Google Inactive Account Manager, step by step
Decide what happens to your Gmail, Photos and Drive.
Google's Inactive Account Manager decides what happens to your Google account, including Gmail, Photos and Drive, if you stop using it.
- Open any Google app, tap your profile picture, then Manage your Google Account.
- Go to Data & privacy, then Make a plan for your digital legacy.
- Choose how long Google waits before acting. The default is 3 months, and you can set it up to 18.
- Add up to 10 people and choose what each one can download.
- Choose whether your account is deleted afterward.
Good to knowGoogle will email and text you before it acts. Keep your recovery phone number and email up to date so a reminder doesn't go unseen.
